2014 Week 32 Day 7 – Our last day here on our own and we thought we would manage the walk up to the waterfall, as we had it on good authority that it was neither too long nor too strenuous and so I thought I could cope with the kids on my own for it!

It was lovely and they really enjoyed it. Of course there was a bit of tension as at some points one or other of them would wander a bit too far away on their own (normally Alexei). And any fence they find they like to climb and so I have to manage Willow on these occasions! We also all loved the copper tree (the first of many we would see on this holiday). I had to stop Felix and Alexei from prising the coins out and pocketing them, even when i gave them their own coins to add! They are a bit money mad this holiday!

Anyway, the promise of an ice cream got us to the top of the waterfall and back down again safely to Ambleside. A passer by saw me take a photo of the children on the bench and offered to take a group shot. I normally refuse without thinking as I hate being the wrong side of the camera (phone), but I have realised that I would never be in any photo with the children. I have also come to the conclusion that no matter how much you don’t like your picture being taken, I can guarantee in a few years time you will look back on it and think that you actually look ok and much younger!!!
